1. List the members of the set

P = {factors of 30 which are odd}.
  • A. P = {2, 3, 5}
  • B. P = {1, 2, 3, 5}
  • C. P = {1, 3, 5, 15}
  • D. P = {2, 6, 10, 30}
Answer: C. P = {1, 3, 5, 15}
Factors are numbers which can divide the number whose factor you are asked to find without a remainder. The factors of a number contains 1, the number itself and other numbers which can divide the number withou a remainder.

Factors of 30 = {1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 15, 30}

Odd numbers are numbers which are not divisible by 2.

P = {factors of 30 which are odd}.

You can list the odd numbers from the list of factors of 30.

P = {1, 3, 5, 15}
2. M = {g, o, q, s} and W = {h, p, r, t}. Find W U W.
  • A. {q, r, s, t}
  • B. {g, h, o, q, r}
  • C. {g, h, o, q, r, t}
  • D. {g, h, o, p, q, r, s, t}
Answer: D. {g, h, o, p, q, r, s, t}
Union (∪) is a set of the list of elements in both sets. If an element is found in both set, it is written only once

W U W = {g, h, o, p, q, r, s, t}
3. Name the geometrical figure shown in the diagram below.

Diagram
  • A. Cuboid
  • B. Cone
  • C. Pyramid
  • D. Sphere
Answer: B. Cone
Answer: B. A solid with a circular base tapering to a point is a cone.
4. Express $\frac{5}{16}$ as a decimal fraction.
  • A. 0.3333
  • B. 0.3125
  • C. 0.2667
  • D. 0.2500
Answer: B. 0.3125
| | 0.3125 |
|---|---|
| 16 | 50 -48 20 -16 40 -32 80 -80 00 |
5. If y = -$\frac{1}{2}$x + 6, find y when x = 4.
  • A. -2

    B
  • B. 2
  • C. 4
  • D. 8
Answer: C. 4
y = -$\frac{1}{2}$x + 6

when x = 4

y = -$\frac{1}{2}$ x 4 + 6

Note: 2 divides itself 1 and 4, 2 times.

y = -2 + 6
y = 4
